How does VoiceMap use my location?

1 min read

VoiceMap uses your device's GPS to track your position as you walk and plays audio automatically when you reach each location on the route. Your location data isn't stored or shared – it's only used on your device to trigger playback and to suggest nearby tours.

You don't need mobile data for GPS to work. Location is determined by satellite, not your data connection.

For the app to work correctly, you'll need to grant VoiceMap permission to access your location. The setting you need depends on your device:

  • iOS – set location permission to While Using the App or Always.
  • Android – set location permission to Allow All the Time.

To check or update your location settings, go to your device settings, find VoiceMap, and adjust the location permission from there.
